Woof™..........

Life as a goalkeeper is seldom easy, even if many of the shots a keeper faces aren't on target and may not have to be saved at all. For Georgia junior Jordan Brown, in her second full season in goal for the Bulldogs (7-4-5, 3-2-3 SEC), she's playing better than she ever has. Last Friday, in the Bulldogs' 2-0 win over Tennessee at the Turner Soccer Complex, Brown made seven saves and earned her second shutout in a row and eighth clean sheet of the season (fourth-best in the SEC). On Monday, Brown was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. Brown's 95 saves this season are 30 more than anyone else in the conference, and her 5.94 saves per game rank first in the SEC and 16th in the country. Georgia needs that Thursday at No. 13 Auburn and for the rest of the season. The Bulldogs are tied for sixth in the SEC standings with one road and one home game (Sunday against No. 24 Texas) remaining.

ATHENS, Ga. – University of Georgia senior midfielder Ellie Gilbert has been named to the 2024 Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon. Throughout her four years in Athens, Gilbert has served her community in a variety of ways. This spring, the Atlanta native worked with Feed My Starving Children, helping to provide 38,880 meals to 106 children in the Athens-Clarke County area. She also participated in Girl Power Day, volunteering to coach young girls and help inspire them to pursue their dreams of competing in collegiate sports. For two seasons, she has spearheaded Georgia soccer's relationship with Extra Special People, working with individuals with developmental disabilities and inviting them into the program. Gilbert has also worked with the Athens Humane Society as an assistant working with homeless animals, as well as volunteering with Hometown Heroes and the Atlanta YMCA's food packaging efforts. On the field, Gilbert has appeared in 71 matches with 61 starts, scoring four goals and assisting on two others.

HILTON HEAD, S.C. —Dasha Vidmanova and Anastasiia Lopata each earned first round victories to advance to the ITF Hilton Head W35 main draw second round at the Van Der Meer Tennis Center on Wednesday. WTA #382 Vidmanova's dominant form continued as she made quick work of Ishika Ashar in the main draw first round. Lopata, who ranks as the WTA #735, opened her competition with a three-set win over WTA #596 Eszter Meri. Vidmanova and Lopata will return to action on Thursday, Oct. 23 where the two Bulldogs will face off against one another in the main draw second round.

INDIANAPOLIS – Recent University of Georgia equestrian Caitlin Lyons has been named one of the national Top 30 honorees for the 2024 NCAA Woman of the Year Award, as announced by the award's selection committee Wednesday afternoon. Four Georgia student-athletes have won the NCAA Woman of the Year Award, including three swimmers: Lisa Coole (1997), Kristy Kowal (2000), and Kim Black (2001). Most recently, track and field athlete Keturah Orji was honored in 2018. Lyons is the 17th Bulldog to represent Georgia for this honor. Lyons was named the 2022 SEC Reining Rider of the Year and earned a spot on the 2022 All-SEC Reining Team and the 2022 National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) All-American Reining Second Team. During her sophomore season, she was a part of the Georgia squad that captured the 2021 NCEA National Championship, the Bulldogs' seventh overall title. The 2024 SEC Equestrian Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Lyons earned one of the Fall 2023-24 women's recipients of an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.

Georgia might not have a game Saturday — next up is the annual Georgia-Florida duel in Jacksonville on Nov. 2 — but the team is prepping this week like the most important games of its season are still ahead. Because they are.

Good morning, Dawg brothers and sisters! Today is yet another gift from God!
John 14:6

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me."

1 Timothy 2:5-6

For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the witness for this proper time.

Acts 4:12

And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”
