ATHENS, Ga. — The Georgia Lady Bulldogs opened the 2024-25 women's basketball season with a win over the North Carolina Central Eagles, 96-52, on Monday afternoon. A dominant debut by Georgia's freshmen contributed significantly to the victory.
ATHENS, Ga. --- Bulldog junior linebacker Jalon Walker has been named one of 15 semifinalists for the Butkus Award honoring the nation's best linebacker, according to a Butkus Foundation announcement Monday.
ATHENS, Ga. --- Bulldog senior linebacker Chaz Chambliss has earned Southeastern Conference weekly honors following Georgia's win versus Florida in Jacksonville, according to a league announcement Monday.
LAHAINA, HI --- The Georgia men's golf team finished tied for sixth place at the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational at the Royal Ka'anapali Golf Course on Monday. The Bulldogs shot a collective 10-under 274 in the third round, finishing at 32-under 820 for the tournament. Oklahoma finished first at 42-under 810, followed by Colorado at 36-under 816 and Kansas at 35-under 817. Indiana and LSU rounded out the top five teams before the Bulldogs tied TCU for sixth. Pensacola, Fla. - Ashton Brosnaham Soccer Complex. Exactly one year to the day of their previous meeting, No. 7 seed Georgia Soccer faces No. 2 seed and nationally fifth-ranked Arkansas in a rematch of the 2023 SEC Tournament final, with the winner of Tuesday's match advancing to Thursday's semifinals. The Bulldogs used an early own goal in last year's final to pull off a 1-0 upset victory over the Razorbacks, clinching the first conference tournament title in program history. Georgia advanced Sunday with a 1-0 win over Texas A&M, while Arkansas has not played in nine days since a 5-0 win at Ole Miss on Oct. 27. A Georgia victory would give the program its first ranked win since last year's Arkansas win and only the fourth-ever win over a top-5 opponent.
