Didn't look like it was mentioned, but Newell tied Dominique last night

for the most points scored by a freshman in their debut at Georgia with 26.

Anthony Edwards had 24 in his debut back in 2019.

Newell had a chance to break the record with about 2 to go, but the ball was swatted away from him on the dribble.  He also looked like he got tired late, so he is going to have to learn to push through that.

Surprised and impressed with how Tennessee Tech held in there, draining 3s and getting turnovers on the backcourt.  I hope we learn to protect the ball better on the inbounds and can find rhythm on the 3s.

There was a lot of "not taking care of the ball", but I don't recall a team in recent memory that shot as consistently as we did last night.  That was refreshing to see.  Guys in the paint getting offensive boards and putting it right back up.  Consistently hitting some 3's.

I've made the comment for years that consistent shooting, rather than the streaky pattern we've seemed to follow, may very well be what we need to get over that middle of the SEC hump.  Team looks like it could be fun to watch.

Concur.  I think they can get better at protecting the ball within a few week.  IF they don't, that part of the game is going to be frustrating.
