Check out the head gasket issues. I don't know what years that was a problem but it was a big one.

Bought my wife a used 2013 Subaru Outback with 70 K miles on it over 6 years ago. Now it has 140K.

It's been a great vehicle. Drivetrain mechanics all work like it's brand new.

Other than doing regular maintenance the only repairs have been fixing a leaking sunroof, replacing the lift cartridges/pistons on the back hatch, and now waiting on a part for the driver's side rear window that won't lower.

Thanks. I've heard really good things about them over the last 10 years or so.

From 2012 on the head gasket issue was resolved.  I think the newer ones are reliable vehicles.

We had one for a while. It was a good car. Just traded up for more luxury (and my wife got tired of my lesbian jokes). I think it was a 2010 or 2011 Forrester.

Only problem we really ever had with it was lug nuts. I don't know if they are very sensitive to torque specs or if they cross thread super easy, but no matter where we took it to have tire work (dealership, tire shop, every place), we'd have seized lugs and have to replace studs, literally every time. I did brake work once on it in my garage and I had to fight like hell on one of the wheels to get two lugs off. My wife got a flat once and some guy stopped to help her and he had to break one off.

Subaru ownership is a 97.3% predictor of left leaning voting tendencies.
