Ali/Frazier I
#1
coming up on ESPN2. First closed circuit fight in Atlanta iimc. I went and it was quite a fashion show. Black dudes were decked out. Guys with long mink coats and 2 chicks. Figured them for pimps. Lotta dignitaries. Ali won the early rounds with Frazier coming on late. Those closed circuit days were fun and saw so great fights. Boxing sucks now. Olympics boxing used to be fun too.

Boxing was great bitd. Corruption killed it. I couldn't stand Ali, but he was great. I was a Norton fan and also like Frazier because he was from Beaufort, SC and I was familiar with Beaufort from fishing down there. We used to ride by Frazier's farm "Frazierton" on the way down.

Ali vs Berbick was sad. Ali was a shadow of himself at his peak.

Frazier as a true southpaw but nobody wanted to fight a leftie so he switched. Smokin Joe was my man too. I saw him get his ass whopped in Foreman fight. One of the greatest under rated heavyweight fights was Foreman vs Ron Lyle.

I was pulling for Frazier in that fight. I remember I was about 10 and stayed up to listen to a radio announcer giver a recap after each round. It was a huge ordeal back then

smoking Joe was my favorite, also, George Foreman and Norton.  Sonny Liston , Floyd Patterson. Never like Casius Clay, and you know why......  Semper Fi......
