I guess Meatchicken's line really shook him up. Plus, the play calling was uncharacteristically bad.
We truly screwed it up this year. I believe we beat any team that played last night fairly handily. We certainly would have beaten Bama or Michigan.
I guess I'm all in on Washington. I just can't bring myself to pull for the BIG10.
Someone said it below...but, our DL was truly our weakness this past season. Probably the worst we've had in the Kirby era. We've got a couple of "bodies" coming back. They're program guys who will bring some knowledge and leadership...not necessarily able to lead by example. ...at least in performance.
We've got a couple of young guys that are developing that should make some good strides. Plus, still looking in the PORT hole for "that guy".
Kirby seems to learn pretty well from mistakes...I don't think we'll get caught again with this deficiency of a DL.

I think RB hurt us too, we didn't have a real threat there.....love Edwards and Milton, but we were missing a guy that really threatened a D. Especially receiving out of the backfield. That and OL under performing, I thought that OL would be better.

If Michigan can get to Penix, I think they can win. I look for Michigan to repeat what they did against Bama, bring pressure and lots of it. I hope Washington can win it but I have my doubts.
IMO; if we don't waste a player on D having two spies on Milroe and bring an extra rusher, we would have rattled Milroe and he wouldn't have passed all over us. As it was, he and the receivers had all day and we all know there is no way to cover a receiver indefinitely. Combine that with a classic Bobo bed shitting and we pissed away a really good chance at three peating.
As much as I hate it, Michigan looked really good, especially late. I thought Bama had them on the ropes in the second half but Michigan never gave up.

IMO our DL was more than good enough to beat bama and to win the MNC. Were they the best in CFB? No. But they were talented enough to win that game.
Coaches just crapped the bed vs bama. Both sides of the ball. We did it to us. No need to blame anyone else IMO.
I am mostly with you on washington - but that news outa there this past month about racial hiring practices in an academic department makes that harder to do.
Cheers DawgNatty - always a post worth reading!

Thanks BNE and you make a good point. I probably should have said it differently...I do think our DL was plenty good enough...just wasn't to our standard, IMVHO.
Also, agree that we played more like a deer in headlights than our game. Funny, Bama seemed to play last night very similar to how we played against them.
Oh, don't get me wrong...I hate everything about the Northwest. Having spent time out there for business, that place is a mess. Agree on the comments about Washington. I just hate to see Big Blue win...but, maybe it sends Harbaugh straight to the league. So, silver lining...

All good points...I really thought Bama would roll in the second half. And yes, that was some Bobo-esque play calling. Especially that last one...damn.

we definitely didn't get nearly the production out of our front 7 as anyone was expecting. Losing Smith and Carter was big, but both of them spent a large chunk of last season out. We had a few people playing injured all year (TID, SM2), but Pops was the biggest factor. He went from being a preseason all american (or at least all conference) to being a complete liability. XS18 was a whiff of a recruit as well. And aside from that, MJJ7 played a crap ton of snaps with almost no production. Maybe there was more team disunity or ego type stuff. Maybe people like NS were actually the glue that held that unit together and made them perform with synergy. IDK, but need to fix it - as much as I think we'd had given any of those four teams yesterday a good run for their money, we didn't play to the level we are accustomed this year other than maybe against FSU, Kentucky, and Ole Miss. Even Missouri was closer than it should have been.

I, for one, am more than happy to see MJJ7 head south. I mentioned it before, but, I can't recall seeing many players do less with more than him. He was a lazy practice participant and had an attitude every time I saw him. He had a habit of getting injury treatments DURING practice too...

I think the announcers said yesterday Milktoast finished 6th in the Heisman voting. Has there ever been a worse player that high in the voting?
He was horrible as a QB. Wow, he hit a 4th down pass to be an Auburn team that had just got waxed by New Mexico State. Why did they need a 4th down miracle? He is a mediocre runner and has a high school QB arm. He is by far the worst starting QB for Alabama in the Saban era.

That would be glorious and an outcome I had not considered.

on the last Milroe call up the middle, i put that on the QB. the left side was wide open, but for some reason he decided not to slide over there.
Saban even alluded to that after. that they knew what mich would do and that the left side would be open

The Heisman has been a joke for a while now. It has become a qb award for the player most hyped by the media during the season.

looked also like he left his feet (ie trying to dive forward). He's a big dude, hard to tackle, he could have just leaned in and hoped someone would come around behind and push. leaving your feet is pretty much do or die and he was too far away to dive. Just a crappy play on his part all around.
