FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Georgia Bulldogs men's basketball (14-5, 2-4 SEC) fell to the Arkansas Razorbacks (12-7, 1-5 SEC), 68-65, on Wednesday night at Bud Walton Arena. Two scorers reached double figures led by Asa Newell's 18 points on the night. After Newell's 18-point effort, junior forward RJ Godfrey followed up with 11 points on the night. The Bulldogs will travel to Gainesville, Fla. where they will face No. 5 Florida on Saturday, Jan. 25 with tipoff set at 3:30 p.m. ET at Stephen C. O'Connell Center. The game will be televised on SEC Network.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Sophomore Niels Ratiu was selected as the Southeastern conference men's tennis player of the week for matches played from Jan. 15-21, as announced by the league office on Wednesday. The Bulldogs are set to travel to Cambridge, Mass. for the ITA Kickoff Weekend on Saturday, Jan. 25 and Sunday, Jan. 26 to face off against No. 21 Harvard and the one of No. 14 Texas A&M and No. 20 UCLA.
OKLAHOMA CITY – University of Georgia senior left-handed pitcher Lilli Backes has been named to the watch list for the 2025 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, USA Softball announced Wednesday afternoon. Backes is one of 53 players on the watch list for the award. The Southeastern Conference leads all athletic conferences with 23 representatives on the watch list. The Peachtree City native accumulated 18 victories in the circle for Georgia last season with six saves and a 2.68 ERA. Georgia will open the season in Orlando on Thursday, Feb. 6. The 2025 campaign will be the fourth under head coach Tony Baldwin.
