ATHENS, Ga. – Georgia sophomore Aysegul Mert's wealth of talent was on full display Sunday during the top-ranked Bulldogs' shutout win over Princeton inside the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Tennis Facility. They've been on display since she came to Georgia from Istanbul, Turkey, particularly on the doubles court, where Mert and Dasha Vidmanova a native of Ukraine, won the NCAA doubles national championship last spring.bSo far in 2025, Mert and Vidmanova are looking once again like a force at No. 1 doubles for the Bulldogs, and Mert is proving to be even more dangerous in singles, too. Mert went 19-7 in singles as a freshman, including 9-1 dual matches, with a 7-0 record at No. 5 singles and 2-1 at No. 4. Through three dual matches this spring, Mert is 3-0 at the No. 3 spot.
