ATHENS, Ga. – The 10th-ranked Georgia softball team defeated Longwood, 11-5, and Western Carolina, 12-6, to close out the 18th Annual Red & Black Showcase on Sunday at Jack Turner Stadium. Georgia stays unbeaten on the season at 9-0. The Bulldogs host App State, Utah Valley, and Syracuse next weekend in the Georgia Classic beginning Friday.
WILMINGTON, N.C. – The eighth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs fell 6-2 to UNC Wilmington here Sunday in front of a crowd of 1,527 at Brooks Field to finish Opening Weekend with a 3-1 mark. Georgia (3-1) will face Kennesaw State Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Marietta.
ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Georgia swimming and diving teams welcome a loaded field of competitors to Athens for the 2025 Southeastern Conference Swimming & Diving Championships at Bauerle Pool at Gabrielsen Natatorium. The SEC Championships begin Monday, Feb. 17 and run through Saturday, Feb. 22, beginning with the women's 1-meter event on Monday followed by the full meet starting Tuesday. This year's event is the seventh conference championship held at Gabrielsen Natatorium – the first full co-ed championship since 2019. The No. 7 Georgia men are led by veterans Jake Magahey (500y freestyle) and redshirt senior Luca Urlando, who is making his return to the SEC Championships after a three-year absence. In his last conference meet, Urlando won three conference titles in Knoxville and was named the SEC Commissioner's Trophy. The Sacramento native has been named SEC Men's Swimmer of the Week four times this season, highlighted by setting a new American Record in the 200y butterfly and a school record in the 100y butterfly at Tennessee. He currently ranks first nationally in both butterfly events. Magahey currently ranks fourth nationally in the 500y freestyle, fifth in the 400y IM, and sixth in the 200y butterfly. On the women's side, No. 11 Georgia is headlined by its distance group, led by defending NCAA champion Abby McCulloh in the mile. McCulloh has posted A-cuts in both the 500y and 1,650y freestyle, ranking third nationally in the mile. Fellow senior Rachel Stege won the 500y free title at the 2023 SEC Championships and ranks fifth nationally in the event with an A-cut time of 4:34.27.
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Georgia womens basketball freshman guard Trinity Turner led all scorers with 22 points in an 84-55 loss Sunday afternoon at Memorial Coliseum. Georgia travels to No.5 LSU on Thursday for a 9 p.m. ET tip in Baton Rouge.
