I know that Bobo has never had a game plan that Smart did not endorse and/or design. Smart instructs Bobo to run long, methodical drives featuring the run. I have a problem when any team does not throw on 1st down, and that fails to call plays that reduce the defensive rush- such as sprint draws, QB draws, quick screens, pitch-outs, center screens, etc.

The Dawgs' poor footwork and aggression on the O-Line was the major problem last year. That flaw and Beck's inaccuracy killed the passing game too often. Many of the alleged 38 drops were poorly thrown and timed passes that would have required circus catches to work.

"It seems like every offseason one of Georgia's position coaches or coordinators is trying to get poached by another team. However, offensive coordinator Mike Bobo signed an extension ahead of the 2024 college football season that will keep him in Athens a little while longer.

The Athens Banner-Herald's Marc Weiszer reported that Bobo's current salary of $1.403 million will go up to $1.503 million on July 1, 2025 and will increase to $1.603 million on July 1, 2026.

Bobo's extension came after a very successful season for Georgia's offense. In 2023, the team led the nation in third down conversion rate, averaged 40.1 points per game which ranked fifth in the country and they ranked fifth in the country for total offense that season.

The next season didn't go as well for Bobo and his offense. They averaged nearly 10 points less per game and the offense as a whole struggled with a variety of things. Despite that though, Georgia still managed to win the SEC title and make it to the college football playoff.

Bobo has a lot of ties to the University of Georgia and head coach Kirby Smart seems to like the job he is doing in Athens, so it makes sense why Bobo would earn an extension after the 2023 season. Things may not have gone their way in 2024 offensively, but perhaps they can turn things around during the upcoming season."

Bummer, but not unexpected. Friendship stronger than Championships for CKS.

We won the SEC, got put onto a tight spot QB wise. Anybody who doesn’t think that hurt us is smoking some good stuff..I think the O line and nagging injuries all year held us back more than anything..

That said, a Natty or bust attitude will disappoint fans 99% of the time..

You are 100% correct but, it sure was painful to watch. Kirby is going to do what he believes is the right thing to do. But, if the offense comes even close to how they played in 2024, things will get a little uncomfortable for some. The OL and dropped passes was simply horrible so, it's the OL, and even the DL that needs to really improve by leaps and bounds.

We had one beat up OL a lot of 2024 and a depleted WR room because the 2 suspensions.  I'm not guaranteeing things will get better (with Bobo) but there is reason to believe it will if the OL can stay healthy and the new WRs (transfer or TFR) are as good as advertised.  Another factor was we didn't have a C good at calling blocking schemes.  Supposedly Drew Bobo is better at that than Wilson....Prolly not to Van Pran's level but better than last year

I'm not a natty or bust type but I am a "don't want to see bed shitting on offense" type and that is exactly what we had this season.  Blame the OL, blame the drops, blame the injuries, but Bobo is the OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR.  It is Bobo's job to make sure every aspect of the offense is working and he is paid extremely well to do that job and he is not doing it.  We did not score more than 10 points in the first half of 9 games this season.  We only scored 160 first half points all season, in 14 games!  We average 124 yds rushing per game, the worst in Kirby's tenure as head coach.  We went from 1st to 77th in third down conversion percentage from 2023 to 2024.  All of this lies directly at Bobo's feet.

2024 showed how the talent of McConkey and Bowers combined with an easy schedule in 2023 hid Bobo's ineptitude.  I look for more of the same from 2024 in 2025.  Bobo is Kirby's Willie Martinez, a good friend who is crippling the team.

I am not saying there weren’t issues, it seemed everything went wrong at times, that said, we did go 4-1 versus playoff teams…looked terrible with Gunnar vs ND, I hope that was a one off.

We looked terrible with Beck against Texas in the SECCG.  We looked terrible with Beck in the first half at Bama.  We looked terrible against Ole Miss for the whole game.  We looked terrible against tech for three quarters.  Bobo is a known quantity and it isn't a good quantity.  If he wasn't Kirby's buddy he would not be coaching at any major program right now.  The same can be said for Searles with regards to being Bobo's friend.

We are creeping back into the CMR "club" atmosphere where nepotism trumps excellence in coaching hires.

5 years ago, I would be much more passionate about this….sadly, things have changed..it’s all about money now, coaches and players..

I would think if we struggle again next year, I would be surprised if we don’t see a change..or maybe Kirby will just say, I’ve made enough money and walk away…

I'm with you 100% on the passion thing.  I was much more passionate even 2 years ago.  It's just another pro league now and I have a really hard time getting too passionate about watching guys who only care about money do their job.  I do expect highly paid employees to do a good job or get fired.  That is the reason I care at all about Bobo.

I wouldn't blame Kirby a bit if he walked away tomorrow.  Being head coach to a bunch of journeyman whores can't be a very satisfying job.
