Woof™ For 16th Best Season in History of UGA Football #6 Final AP Poll (SEC Champs!) ....

ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia senior Lianna Davidson has been voted the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Women's Athlete of the Week, according to an announcement Monday. Davidson, a native of Sydney, Australia, led a 1-2-3 Georgia finish in the javelin at the Yellow Jacket meet after sending her sixth and final attempt 63.79 meters/209 feet, 3 inches, which makes her the No. 2 all-time collegiate performer and put her No. 2 on the 2025 world list.  This school record toss was preceded by a try of 62.59m/205-4, which also would have been No. 2 on the all-time collegiate list.  Davidson's debut at UGA also had fellow Bulldog newcomer, freshman Manuela Rotundo, open at 61.13m/200-6 (No. 8 all-time collegiate performer) to set the tone of the competition. This is the fifth time in program history that a female student-athlete from Georgia has been named the National Athlete of the Week during the outdoor season.  Davidson joins 2018 The Bowerman winner – and three-time honoree – Keturah Orji and 2021 honoree and fellow javelin hurler Marie-Therese Obst in that regard.  Davidson, a native of Sydney, Australia, was one of three Bulldogs to earn Southeastern Conference weekly honors following her performance at the Yellow Jacket Invitational on March 21. Georgia makes the trip to Gainesville, Fla., this week for the Florida Relays.  The meet will run April 4-5.
