ATHENS, Ga. – Sophomore Emily Digby's ninth-inning walk-off double lifted the 16th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs to a 3-2 win over USC-Upstate on Wednesday in front of 1,825 fans at Jack Turner Stadium. Georgia improves to 26-13 on the season. Georgia hits the road for a three-game series at Auburn this weekend. The series will begin on Friday at 6 p.m. ET live on SEC Network.
ATHENS, Ga. — The No. 54 Georgia women's golf team took home second place at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic on Wednesday behind a runner-up performance by sophomore Celine Brovold Sanne. Georgia finished with a team score of 890, posting a 306 in Wednesday's final round to finish +26 over 54 holes. With their second-place performance, the Bulldogs recorded their best team finish of the season. Georgia will head to Belleair, Fla., for the Southeastern Conference Championship on April 14-18. The tournament will be held at Pelican Golf Club, with stroke play taking place from April 14-16 followed by match play on April 17-18.
ATHENS, GA.-----Georgia's Ryland Zaborowski has been named the Dick Howser Trophy Player of the Month for March, it was announced recently by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. In March, Zaborowski batted .467 (28-for-60) with 22 runs scored, four doubles, 12 home runs and 33 RBI. He added 15 walks, was hit by four pitches and posted a 1.133 slugging percentage and a .595 on-base percentage. A 6-5, 250-pound native of Gilbert, Ariz., he ranks among the NCAA leaders in batting (.424), home runs (15), slugging percentage (.949) and RBI (51). He has appeared in 31 games with 30 starts at third base, first base or designated hitter for the Bulldogs. Last week, Zaborowski was named to the Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List by USA Baseball as well as a Mid-Season All-American by multiple outlets. Up next, the seventh-ranked Bulldogs (30-5, 8-4 SEC) face top-ranked Arkansas (31-3, 11-1 SEC) here starting Friday night at Foley Field.
ATHENS, Ga. --- A trio of Georgia's track and field teams have earned weekly Southeastern Conference honors following the team's competition at the Florida Relays, according to a league announcement. Senior Moustafa Alsherif (Men's Field Athlete of the Week), freshman Manuela Rotundo (Women's Field Athlete of the Week) and first-year hurdler Michelle Smith (Women's Freshman of the Week) are this week's honorees. Alsherif, a native of Cairo, Egypt, worked up to a fifth javelin attempt of 79.72 meters/261 feet, 6 inches to be the top collegiate finisher (second overall). He took over the 2025 national collegiate lead and moved to No. 3 on Georgia's all-time list in his career debut. Rotundo, a native of Paysandu, Uruguay, sent her first javelin attempt 64.17m/210-6 to top Davidson at Rotundo's second career collegiate meet. Her mark passed Davidson for both the No. 2 all-time collegiate performer spot and the school record after Davidson accomplished the feat two weeks ago. Rotundo was named the USTFCCCA National Women's Athlete of the Week as well. Smith, a native of Frederiksted, St. Croix, won the 400-meter hurdles by more than a second. Her national leading time of 54.56 topped a 29-year-old school record. The multi-event crew will have an opportunity to compete on April 11-12 vat the 44 Farms Team Invitational in College Station, Texas.
