Thanks for all the advise. Traveler's adjuster finally got going and I'm renting a 3br apt for four months a 1/4 from my Woodstick casa. Also rented a storage unit and selected contractor for inventory/pack/clean/store, textile cleaning and then the actual home. Now I have to lug out 4,000 or so records and some very good stereo gear. Such is life.
All the contractors were surprised by all the smoke damage. Travelers is sending a couple of fire experts out today to look over things and haul the dishwasher off. Almost everything inside the joint is going to be replaced. Carpets, hardwoods, ceilings, appliances....on and on. It's a tough way to remodel a home.
People hate insurance companies until they need one.

Claims of any kind are never enjoyable. The insurance company can't make the stress and aggravation go away but they can keep the financial aspect from ruining you.

Saving the vinyl. No doubt.
New kitchen will be cool for y'all. Are you installing a bourbon tap?
