Upon hearing the reported deal that Miami is paying now-former quarterback Carson Beck, Kiffin offered a perfect response.

Appearing on The Pivot Podcast with Ryan Clark and Channing Crowder, Kiffin was told by the hosts that Carson Beck was getting $4.3 million to play for Miami.

“Miami gave him $4.3 million? Did they watch his game against us?” Kiffin said before cracking a smile...

Against Ole Miss last season, Beck completed 20 of his 31 pass attempts for 186 yards and an interception. Georgia scored just 10 points in a 28-10 loss to Ole Miss.

OXFORD, Ms. — Georgia’s offense has been taking on water for a while in terms of performance. With rain pouring down all Saturday afternoon, it sunk to a new low.

The Bulldogs finished with just 10, tying the low-water mark in the Kirby Smart era. Georgia had just 70 yards of offense at halftime. It gave up 5.0 sacks and turned the ball over twice. It had just two plays of 20-yards or more, compared to the eight of Ole Miss

It all added up to an impotent 28-10 loss to Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels.

“We struggled to move the ball there after that first touchdown after the defense was able to get a turnover and we found some momentum,” Georgia quarterback Carson Beck said.

“We started to move the ball better in the second half. It just seemed like we stalled out at times and didn’t finish drives whenever we were moving the ball. You know, just a couple of costly mistakes, but I mean, their defense played really well.”

Georgia football-Ole Miss instant observations as Bulldogs simply get whooped
Beck will undoubtedly receive the largest public share of the blame pie. He completed 20 of his 31 pass attempts for 186 yards. Turnovers have been the biggest issue for Beck of late and he did add an interception and fumble to his season-long totals. He’s now got 12 interceptions on the season.

After the game, Smart once again defended Beck and how he played.

“We put a lot on him, and he’s playing on the road with crowd noise,” Smart said. “But man, he stands in that pocket and converted some third downs and made some really nice plays. I thought he threw the ball away a couple times tonight. It was really good. So I’m not here to be critical of him.”

While some may be annoyed with Smart’s constant defense of a struggling Beck, in this case, it’s warranted. There wasn’t much more Beck could’ve down facing a tidal wave of pressure.
