Kirby has addressed this.  Says these reports, only based on him not listed in the media guide/program, aren't correct.  He's still on the staff, apparently was just left off.

If Boom is still around, he needs a larger role, even if it is in some sort of stealth mode. Make him de facto DC, give him a raise and some obscure title like "Director of Defensive Strategy Development".
