Anyone else doing dry January?
#1
I am, and I got about a 10 day head start in late December.  I listened to that Huberman Lab podcast on sugar and processed foods, which I recommend to anyone that hasn't already heard it, and he talks about how the liver converts the alcohol to fat and stores it in or adjacent to the liver and that it impairs it's functioning.

I'm not that much of a drinker, but I like to have some brandy or a glass of wine at bedtime a few nights a week.  It has been surprisingly tough to abstain completely.  I find myself every day about this time thinking, maybe today has been long enough, it would be nice to have some wine at bed time.

I don't think it has translated into a thinner waist yet, but I am sleeping like a focking baby.  Best sleep I've had in years.

I don't drink liquor, and don't drink beer during the week unless there is a good reason. One good bong rip as a night cap after dinner is all I require

Havem't drank any hard stuff aince 1988. If i were to take a shot or even drink a beer i would turn yellow, because of liver damage. I;m blessed to be alive today. Thanks be to God.

I don't remember, but he did say it is a regenerative organ, so just not messing it up for a while will get it in good shape.  Intermittent fasting also allows it some time off to burn the debris.

Some health experts (whatever that means) say that two or three alcohol days a week is sufficient to prevent liver damage from alcohol.
