RUMORS (capital for effect)
Lane - UF, LSU
Dabo - UF
Clark Lea - UF
I'm going to say it...Any of these guys are stupid NOT to take the money right now. Why? The money Lane is being offered is basically generational wealth. No matter where he picks, he's going to have a buyout of around $100M. Folks saying how great it is in Oxford are right...to an extent. But all you need is a taste...like they've had this year (and last) and you want more. Heck, we are spoiled coming off of two Natty's...rumblings about Kirby not getting a better OC and staying on a championship level. We may not win it again this year... but it may be Kirby's best coaching job and THAT is saying something.
So, back to the candidates above. Clark Lea for example...anyone that thinks Vandy is going to continue this run doesn't know football. They will regress to the mean sooner or later---Same for Ole Mrs. The only reason they're all the sudden an option for top players is $$$$. That isn't going to continue. Before a coach's 5 year contract is up, these current rules are going to change, and the top schools will continue to be the top.
My advice, take the money and run!!! Cue Toasty!

In my mind, we won the last two real college football national championships. After the 2022 season, "college" football became just another pro sports league.
I don't really care where Kiffin goes or Dabo or Lea for that matter. Actually, I'd love to see Dabo the Clown at UF.

Interesting. I would think he wouldn't go back to college.

There's a ton of reasons for him to stay there. He claims he became a better man there...quit drinking, got back with his wife, and a few other things.
But, I think he's already committed to LSU. Just my $.02 and we'll see. I've heard enough from the right people to make me think that's where he's headed.

Same here. However, with the crazy buyouts, it wouldn’t surprise me if a guy like Monken could be tired of coaching and is willing to put in 3-4 years at a program to then get fired, receive a huge buyout, and ride off into the sunset with a bucket load of money. Running and coaching a big time program isn’t for everybody, but coaching salaries and buyouts have skyrocketed recently. Some of these guys are probably asking themselves “ am I in this for the love of coaching or for the money”. They can always take the buyout and then get their coaching fix by volunteering at the local high school with no pressure. Crazy new world that is college football. I can’t imagine juggling/prioritizing family and a SEC football program, because if you get it wrong you’ll have neither.

Interesting. I would think he wouldn't go back to college. Article hinted it would be a chance to bring his son on staff and aid his coaching career on top of the money
he would make that would certainly be 3 or 4 times the amount he's making with the Ravens.

Would love to see it. As much as he loves to troll people, I really hope it's one big troll job on the media who does nothing but run with "insider" information. Never vetting a thing.
Besides, what would have have to prove? "Rebuilding" UF and/or LSU into a national powerhouse has been done before. Ain't no one ever done that at Ole Miss, and damn if he ain't had them fairly relevant the last couple of years. That's far more impressive on the legacy IMO.
Though, if it is "about the money" the no state taxes in Florida could be a big draw.
