·       What has happened to Auburn?
·       No, I’m not sad about it……..just curious……..
·       At 74, I remember a time when we were very equal with the Tigers………
·       There were only a handful of games that separated us in terms of won/loss records………
·       Now, they seem to have fallen below being even mediocre………
·       Rogue alumni forcing a weak administration to make panic decisions that ended up wrong?
·       A series of bad coaching hires?
·       Getting off the “Gus-Bus” too early (they won more games with him than they have with later coaches)?
·       Georgia…..Nine wins in a row?
·       18 and 3 in the last 21 years……..?
·       This isn’t a three or four your blip……..
·       We’ve seen teams go up and down over the years in the SEC (we’ve spent some time in the “wilderness” ourselves)
·       But Auburn…what a mess on the “Plains”
·       66-56-8 all time now……..
·       I can’t even make fun of them with Auburn fans I know anymore

When they got caught paying $cam I think they realized the gig was up on their blatant cheating and if they didn't clean up, at least a little, they were in for big NCAA trouble. I also think Auburn is one of those places where the boosters have an outsized say in the running of the football program and they have meddled too much. Running off Gus was probably a mistake. He wasn't elite, but he was good. The ultimate nail in the Auburn coffin (along with Clemson and FSU) was NIL. Once everyone could pay players, Auburn (and the other two) lost its best recruiting tool. Auburn is the little brother program in a sort of little brother state in a runt of the litter town.

Whatever the reason, I'm happy about it.
