That members of the Dartmouth Basketball team are employees of the school.  This gives the players the right to unionize, negotiate salaries, work conditions, and work hours, etc.  school intends to appeal.  This willl likely be coming to football soon.

Dartmouth says that the basketball program loses money. How long can a business that loses money continue to have employees? Who would pay Ivy League players anyway?

This will lead to schools dropping sports. How many D1 football programs break even, let alone turn a profit? Could they afford the extra employees? Do the employee players get taxed at higher rates when they play in California versus Florida like in the NFL?

Bye-bye college sports. Schools not showing a profit in a sport will just drop it rather than pay student athletes to lose more money.
