It's hard to get excited about anyone signing now. I look at it as a one year thing, maybe two. Players today are mercenaries in it for what they can get out of playing. I don't think any of them really care anything about the school whose name is attached to the team. I can't really blame them, the system is set up to encourage that and they are taking advantage of the system.
I feel lucky to have been able to be a fan and experience college football at its zenith.

What is happening with college football via NIL is quickly impacting high school football, as well. It's not literal NIL contracts that are affecting high school players and teams, but the lure of them. People are becoming more cut-throat, as they see football more and more as a source of serious cash, and I'm talking about parents, step-parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, neighbors, etc., etc., etc.
For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evils, and some by aspiring to it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

It has been that way for a while in the democrat community. Extended family members have seen a talented player as a meal ticket. History is full of stories of uncles, stepfathers, mothers, aunts, cousins, etc. that have wanted cash for steering a player to a certain school.
I think it will be easier to control things on the HS level. Kids can't simply decide to transfer to another school due to districting and no pass/no play is easier to enforce in HS and harder to get around with tutors than on the college level. There isn't enough money coming in to most HS sports to push people to throw big money at a player either.
