... that we suspect was released for the Super Bowl (I dunno... could be wrong). There have been a couple of downright hilarious ads we have seen as of late.
This first one wasn't/isn't a Super Bowl ad. But what a crack-up.
This is the one we saw last night. LOL...

There were a couple good commercials. The foot washing commercial for Jesus was a little odd, but I like seeing something besides trying to sell me something.

The organization behind the ad is "He Gets Us". I'd be wary, as their motivation is pretty typical of what is a lot of "popular" Christianity, today. The focus is on the here and now, how we can make life on this earth more comfortable. They will give massive focus on things like Jesus washing His disciples' feet, telling the Pharisees "He who is without sin first cast a stone", such as that. You won't hear, though, "Go and sin no more", "Repent and believe", or even stronger, “Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household."
There are a lot of nice, warm, comfortable, easy things that Jesus said and did. But He brought the full truth, the entire truth. He came to save sinners.
He also called the apostle Paul to salvation and to ministry. There is this element which calls themselves Christianity who says they don't follow Paul, but they follow Christ. Well, Christ Himself called Paul to be an apostle to the Gentiles. The Holy Spirit inspired Paul to write what he wrote.

Yeah, I'm with you on that. It was so borderline, I don't know if they were advocating or making fun of it. I took the latter approach and it made it funny.

If Churches can buy 7 million dollar ads, they can pay taxes, IMHO.

So I understand, the organization who bought the ad or ads did so through the donations of some 20 or so individual contributors. I thought I read that they paid something like $100 million in total. Maybe that isn't correct. The organization isn't a "church" per se, but they do claim to be a non-profit religious organization. I, personally, don't support them with their agenda, as it is just purely incorrect. I don't find any problems, though, with there being tax exempt organizations/entities. They do have set requirements they are SUPPOSED to meet. That doesn't mean that there aren't individuals or entities that don't abuse it. There is no shortage of such, in fact.
One point concerning churches and their tax exempt status... the church, itself, exists solely on donations from individual contributors. It is those contributors who get tax deductions. The church just receives the donations. Any employees/paid staff of the church do pay normal income taxes just like normal employees.
