My Dog Max never left my Bride's bedside during the 2 years she was bed bound. He monitored and supervised the home health staff every day. He watched every move they made. Max is 14 now and half blind, but he watched every move they made. He was in the room with her when the EMT's tried to resuscitate her the morning she died. He would not leave her side only stepping back far enough for them to do their work. He usually responds to my commands , but would not leave her. He carefully watched the coroner when he got to our home and escorted my Bride to the door when the funeral home came to get her. The only time he ever barked was when the medical supply folks came to get the hospital bed. Not a dry eye in the house when he gave that bark. I know he understood that his Mama would not be coming back home again. My friends say I should take him to the cemetery to visit her grave. I just don't have the heart to do it. As i said, Max is 14 and I was afraid I was going to have to have put down a few weeks after my Bride passed. He was listless, would not eat and his hips were hurting him so bad he could barely walk. He continued to stay in her room sleeping almost all day long. After a few weeks of sleep and rest , he is acting somewhat spry again. I think old Max had caregiver's fatigue and mourning just like the rest of us. David Crosby nailed it when he said there is nothing better in life than the loving friendship of a dog.

Drove over to Sharpsburg to visit my brother and stopped at Ted's to eat on the way home. They are still doing right at that Ted's. Went through Brooks on the way home. I have always liked that area. Would not be a bad place to live at all. Excellent location and the countryside is beautiful.
