The story was amended. One injured police officer and he's going to be fine. It was a domestic violence case. The mom was meeting the dad at the Dollar General Store to exchange the small child with dad. Dad shot and killed mom, shot the police officer in the arm, and killed himself.

Makes perfect sense. Eliminate both parents and leave the kid without either. I’m sure that won’t cause any future traumatic damage to the child. Sounded like really stable parents. Sarcasm font in full force.
