I read the book a long time ago. There's a lot going on, in a lot of places, among lots of different people. But I think they have done a terrific job of condensing 1000 plus pages without losing the essence of the story. I read several books that James Clavell wrote, and all of them were long, complex stories that gave you a view of various Asian cultures. I'd like to see the producers take a shot at some of the other books,
