Boosted by the third-fastest 800-yard freestyle relay in program history, the University of Georgia men's swimming and diving team posted a strong opening night Wednesday at the 2024 NCAA Men's Swimming & Diving Championships at the IU Natatorium. Following the first night of competition, Georgia sits in eighth place overall with 34 points.

The third-ranked Georgia softball team run-ruled the Kennesaw State Owls in five innings at Bailey Park Wednesday evening, 10-1. Georgia climbs to 28-4 on the season, having won 13 of its last 14 games.

Georgia's track and field teams will split up for the first time this outdoor season to compete in the Raleigh Relays, hosted by NC State, and the Battle on the Bayou in Baton Rouge, La., this weekend. A group of distance runners will compete during the first two days of the Raleigh Relays on Thursday-Friday, March 28-29, at the Paul Derr Track & Field Facility on the campus of NC State. The Battle on the Bayou will take place on Friday-Saturday, March 29-30, at LSU's Bernie Moore Track Stadium.

University of Georgia gymnast Lily Smith has been named the Southeastern Conference Gymnastics Freshman of the Year, the conference office announced Wednesday. The postseason awards are voted on by the league's head coaches. In addition, Smith was placed on the All-SEC and All-Freshman teams, and was joined by fellow freshman Anya Turner and sophomore Ja Free Scott. 

Niels Ratiu of the Georgia men's tennis team has been named the Southeastern Conference Co-Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday afternoon. Ratiu's award marks the first time this season that a Bulldog has earned a weekly award from the SEC. The Liège, Belgium native is the first Georgia player to earn Freshman of the Week honors since Ethan Quinn did so on April 17, 2023.

The University of Georgia men's golf team will begin its penultimate tournament of the regular season at The Goodwin in San Francisco at TPC Harding Park, with play beginning on Thursday, March 28th. The Bulldogs lineup will consist of graduates Connor Creasy, Ben van Wyk, Beck Burnette, junior Buck Brumlow and freshman Camden Smith, with senior Caleb Manuel competing as an individual.

Golf Channel is back showing a lot of old Masters films for now... fun watching some of those. They had 1986 last night...that's the one that shows Dianne and me watching Jack make the putt on #17...
