Says UGA bball is no longer held in high regard south of the gnat line. This guy won at least 2 state titles, won his region frequently. Claims his phone stopped ringing from Athens when Harrick left. Says his peers say the same. This guy loves UGA and CKS. A five star from his HS is playing at UGA now. He says CKS "gets" south GA recruiting and is beloved by all HS coaches not just the FB coaches. Doesn't understand why the Bball coaches do not "get" this. [/quote] UGA basketball has been a joke for decades and not only below the gnat line. There are a lot of reasons why but the biggest reason is that no one places any emphasis on basketball at UGA from the President and the AD down. White is making $3.5 million a year for basically .500 basketball and the fan base is actually happy with his results. Neither White nor Brooks has any incentive to do more. Since 1932 when basketball started at UGA, we are 115 games over .500 as a program after 2753 games. These are SC football type numbers. I have heard all about the NIL, AAU, etc. reasons we suck but I find it hard to believe SC, Bama and Clemson are all pouring big dollars into those things.

There is no reason Georgia shouldn't be a perennial power in all sports. Georgia is now the 8th largest state by population and UGA has a huge alumni/donor base and facilities that, while maybe not the very best, are more than good enough to attract top talent. The best thing about basketball is; it only takes two or three really good players to make a big difference.
