The Georgia gymnastics team's Lily Smith earned the all-around title in the second round of the NCAA Gainesville Regional, but the GymDogs came just short of advancing, scoring 197.425 on Friday evening inside Exectech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. "We had a great meet and unfortunately came up short by a slim margin," head coach Courtney Kupets Carter said. "I can't ask for much more. We have a young team and they performed to our standard tonight. I'm disappointed to see the season come to an end but the future is bright for Georgia Gymnastics."

The No. 7 Georgia women's tennis team bounced back into the win column with a dominant 7-0 victory over Mississippi State at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on Friday. The Bulldogs (14-4, 9-1 SEC) now improve to 48-0 all-time against Mississippi State (10-13, 0-10 SEC) and have won 12 of their last 13 matches this season.

The 19th-ranked Mississippi State Baseball Bulldogs posted a 6-1 win over 24th-ranked Georgia Friday in front of a crowd of 12,315 at Polk-Dement Stadium in Starkville.

Filipe Costa of the No. 38 Georgia men's tennis team earned the first clinching wins of his collegiate career in the Bulldogs' 4-0 sweeps of Southern Mississippi and No. 59 Ole Miss on Friday at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center. The redshirt sophomore helped clinch the doubles point for the first time with Cyrus Mahjoob in the Bulldogs' (12-11, 4-6 SEC) first match over the Eagles (7-7, 3-2 SBC). Costa, a native of São Paulo, Brazil, then capped off the day with a straight-set win on court six in singles to sweep the Rebels (9-12, 2-8 SEC).

Sophomore heptathlete Ella Rush and freshman decathlete Jan Duhovnik opened competition in their respective events at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational on Friday. Rush tallied 3,075 points through four events in the heptathlon and sits in 11th place heading into day two of the Miami-hosted meet. Duhovnik is in ninth place with 3,532 pts. after five events in the decathlon.

The third-ranked Georgia softball team fell in the series opener at No. 6/4 Tennessee on Friday, 5-1. Georgia falls to 30-7 on the season and 6-4 in SEC play.
