Slate Alford's grand slam capped a career-high eight-RBI night as 23rd-ranked Georgia posted a 17-6 run-rule win in eight innings over Ole Miss Friday in front of a Foley Field crowd of 3,708. It was his third Grand Slam of the year, which ties the Georgia single-season record and gave the Bulldogs a school record nine grand slams on the year. The grand slam ended the game per the run-rule at 17-6 in the eighth inning.The Bulldogs (28-9, 8-8 SEC) scored eight runs in the third inning, which is the most they have scored in an inning against an SEC opponent this season. Due to the high probability of inclement weather on Sunday, Georgia's Southeastern Conference baseball series with Ole Miss will now conclude Saturday with a doubleheader. Game one Saturday remains a 2 p.m. start, and the second game will follow 45 minutes later. Both games are scheduled for nine innings. Foley Field will be cleared between games. Fans holding tickets for Saturday's originally scheduled 2 p.m. game will be admitted only to game one of the doubleheader. Fans with tickets for Sunday's Georgia-Ole Miss game will be admitted only to the second game of Saturday's doubleheader. Please note with Foley Fest going on Saturday, Rutherford Street adjacent to Foley Field will be closed starting at 10:45 am until after the final game of the day. Kids will still have the chance participate in Anthem Buddies for game one Saturday while the post-game Run the Bases will take place after the final game of the series on Saturday.

Graduate transfer Stephanie Ratcliffe earned her second hammer throw victory in as many weeks to highlight the Georgia track and field program's first day of competition at the Georgia Tech Invitational. Kelsie Murrell-Ross finished runner-up in the shot put with a mark of 16.67m/54-8.25 on her sixth and final throw. Erin McMeniman earned her first win of 2024 in the javelin throw, opening with a mark of 44.85m/147-1 before working up to 47.08m/154-5 on her sixth and final attempt. McMeniman won the event by a nearly 10-foot margin. Autumn Wilson sprinted to first place in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line with a time of 11.39 in her first race at that distance this season. Gavin Beverage earned his first shot put victory of the season, posting a mark of 18.09m/59-4.25 on his third attempt to distance himself from the nearest competition by over four feet. The Bulldogs will resume action in Atlanta at 12 p.m. on Saturday when Alon Rogow competes in the men's pole vault. Dominique Mustin and Zoe Pollock will run the 400m hurdles at 1:30 p.m. in Georgia's first running event of the day. 

Courtney Kupets Carter will not return as head coach of the Georgia gymnastics program, Director of Athletics Josh Brooks announced Friday. A national search for Georgia's next head coach will begin immediately.

The ninth-ranked Georgia softball team fell to the 13th-ranked Missouri Tigers Friday evening in front of 1,291 fans at Jack Turner Stadium, 4-2. This weekend's series will now conclude on Saturday with a doubleheader. The twin bill will begin at 2 p.m., with the series finale set for 45 minutes after the first game's conclusion.

Freshman Lily Smith of the Georgia gymnastics team finished her rookie season with four All-America honors at the NCAA Gymnastics National Championship Semifinal on Thursday night. Smith tied for first in the afternoon semifinal on uneven bars with a 9.925 to earn NCAA All-America First Team honors.  She also received First Team recognition on beam after scoring a 9.9125 and finishing fourth overall. The Limerick, Pa. native earned two Second Team honors after scoring a 9.9125 on floor and compiling a 39.4750 all-around score. The SEC Freshman of the Year competed all-around as an individual representing Georgia.  She scored a 9.725 on vault.
