The LSU-South Carolina game just had the most controversial situation...
#1
... I may have ever seen in baseball... but, there is a good ending.

In the top of the 10th, game tied 10-10... LSU having come back from being down 8 runs... South Carolina is at bat and they have a runner on third with 2 out. South Carolina tries to steal home. The catcher picks it up and the runner is tagged out way in time. The umps go into a conversation and they made a determination based upon a rule saying that if the catcher, before the pitch is released, steps ON or IN FRONT OF the plate, then it is a catcher's balk, as he has stepped into fair territory BEFORE THE PITCH IS THROWN.

BUT!!!! The replay CLEARLY SHOWS that the catcher did neither of those!! But the umps ruled that he did!  And better yet... THE PLAY IS NOT REVIEWABLE!!!! Who came up with some stupidity like that?!

So, the runner on 3rd is awarded home based upon the ruling of a catcher's balk, giving South Carolina an 11-10 lead.

Not only that... the guy who was at bat and who had an 0-2 count is awarded 1st base... per the rule!!

A humongous delay occurs, the LSU manager gets ejected from the game, South Carolina still has the 11-10 lead.

LSU gets the next batter out with a groundout to 2nd base to end the top of the inning and take the game into the bottom of the 10th.

The first LSU batter has 3 balls on him and the South Carolina pitcher is doing something and he exceeds the pitch clock, and the ump awards the batter 1st base, as by rule that is a ball, which is ball 4. The South Carolina pitcher is complaining it has something to do with some electronic device he wears in his hat that, I guess, has something to do with him communicating with the catcher or the dugout (???!!!???). Heck if I know.

Anyway, with a runner on 1st, the 2nd LSU batter comes to the plate and with a 1-1 count he hits a bomb over the left-centerfield wall to give LSU the walk-off win, 12-11.

I've never seen anything like all of that nonsense. I'm glad that LSU ended up winning, based on all of that stuff.

And to add further to the controversy, the winner of the game goes to the SEC championship against the winner between Tennessee and Vanderbilt, and the loser is done, out of the tournament.
