If you go to Arlington and don't get all choked up, there is something very wrong with you. Those pic of the left behind spouses and children bring the point home for me. The beach reference is classic !!!!!!

On this day I always think about this one family who we know from a previous church we attended. The wife was previously married to a fellow who was an F-15 pilot in the Air Force. He was killed in a crash during a routine flight. He left behind a sweet, beautiful wife and two very small precious children (a son and a daughter).
She eventually remarried and her 2nd husband has, honestly, had to come face to face with that element of her past, and her losing her first love tragically, and their not being separated by choice. One of the most humble expressions of love that I have heard of was the 2nd husband giving a talk/presentation before a group of men in a Christian setting, speaking of humility, but honoring his wife's first husband, and he wore the man's flight suit when he gave the presentation. I'm sure you can imagine that not a dry eye was anywhere within earshot of the place. That was one powerful moment in time. Things like that.... that is why God has us all here on this earth together. |
