... NOT!

This reminds me of the old gym locker room toilets when I was in high school. Who thought of that, the Romans?

Yes. I think it is supposed to be from an old Army basic training barracks. I think I saw one person reference Fort Leonard Wood.

Wife and I were in Ephesus several years ago. They had one of those toilet rooms. Seat was made of stone.
They had slaves sit on them to keep warm until someone needed to use it.

So, ya. I visited the spot where Paul, Cleopatra, Antony, etc took a dump. Life changing....

Heh heh. My wife and I saw the remnants of one of these toilets when we visited the UK 5 years ago. There is an old Roman fort (what's left of it) located on the south side of the River Tyne, in South Shields (opposite side of the river from Newcastle). The fort is called Arbeia. They had a sign out in front of the remnant of the doorway where you'd enter it. There was a drawing/painting showing guys in there taking care of business and another guy standing outside the door. He had this look of apprehension.

The thing that got me was what they said they use to clean themselves afterward. They used what amounts to a sponge on a stick, and I think they shared the doggone thing. Blech.
