Back in the old days (before my time on this earth) Rockmart and Cedartown (Yellow Jackets vs. Bulldogs) mimicked their elders and used to play one another also on Thanksgiving Day.

Didn't UGA and Tech briefly revive that back in the 1990s? Was it when Goff was head coach?

They did.  I think fall of ‘97 was the last time they played on Thanksgiving.

1971, 1975, 1991 and 1995 are the years we played on Thanksgiving Day.  If I had to guess, I'd say tv had something to do with all 4 of those games.  The JV game was on Thanksgiving Day.  The nerds used to cheat like mofos in that game.  They always loaded their JV roster with varsity players for that game.
