June 6, 1944 D-Day boys and girls. Hard to believe that it has been that long since we stormed the beaches and took out one of the most evil regimes that ever existed. God bless America !!!!

Almost all of those old heroes who survived through that war are gone on, now. We're fortunate in that we were able to know some. I can think of several in my mind right now, and their stories they have shared... stuff we'd find difficult to face, which I'm sure it was for them, too. But they did it.

I think about .. I think I have the handle right... Fayetteville Dawg (??).. is that right? He was born less than a year from the time that his father left and went over to fight and neither ever got to see one another. I remember just a short couple of years ago he got to go over and see his father's grave for the first time ever.

Evil regime is right. It is uncanny, thinking about that and all that is going on in the world.

Saw a clip this morning of British paratroopers marking the event by dropping in on the northern coast of France. Believe it or not, French customs was there to ask them for their passports. They were getting roasted because if the troops had pulled up in a rubber dingy, the customs agents would have just looked the other way...

If any of you get a chance to visit Normandy or Utah Beaches, GO. It will be a significant emotional event that you will never forget. The little towns around are gracious and the people are the best. I am so looking forward to going again before I croak. Don't know when but am. And if you can go around this time, they and surrounding villages dress in period style and have rebuilt military vehicles and they ride around, it is surreal. Saw a jeep on the beach with a confederate flag waving in the wind. Awesome.

Young adults today are scared to order food in person...or talk to a teller at a bank...

Truly America’s greatest generation.  Yesterday, I watched as Martha McCallum interviewed one of the D-Day survivors who had returned to Normandy for the Anniversary celebration.  This man, now in his 90’s, said he now felt like a foreigner in his own country. I found it profoundly sad that his man no longer recognizes the America his generation gave so much to preserve.  We truly need to change course in America.
