Can y'all believe that high school football scrimmage games start in 5 weeks?

Rockmart scrimmages Bremen on August 2nd. Cayn't believe it. Scrimmage Rome on Thursday of the following week, August 8th. Kickoff the regular season against Cedartown on August 16th.

Where does the time go?

Starting any sort of football season in August is ridiculous. The first Friday in September should be the earliest any football season starts.

Looks like they moved the season up by a couple of weeks some time back. Teams now have 2 off weeks through the regular season, whereas it was previously always 1 off week. If I remember correctly, this year is going to be different in that they are inserting an off week during Thanksgiving week. I don't know if that pushed things forward by a week or not.

I agree, though. Mid-August is very early to start the season.

Remember when Clarke Central had one of best teams in nation during late '70s?

I remember Clarke Central, Valdosta, Warner Robins, all having national power teams. They dominated the state for a very long time.
