Will Georgia Tech ever beat Georgia again with Kirby Smart as head coach?

The response, from 77 percent of those who took part in the recent poll, is the Yellow Jackets will have to wait until after Kirby Smart has vacated the Bulldogs’ head coaching position.

Here’s a look at how the past five Georgia coaches have fared in the “Clean old-fashioned hate” rivalry:

Kirby Smart (2016-present) 6-1, (.857)

Mark Richt (2001-2015) 13-2 (.867)

Jim Donnan (1996-2000) 2-3 (.400)

Ray Goff (1989-1995) 5-2 (.714)

Vince Dooley (1964-1988) 19-6 (.760)

45-14

for starters, I hope the period of time we are talking about is really long. The longer the better. And the longer it is, the more likely it is that they get a win. I actually think its likely they beat us some time in the next five years.

Its pretty amazing the record Richt put up against them. Kirby to date has been remarkable against them, but Tech has been in disarray for most of that time period.

Easy to see why Donnan was shown the door. Losing record against the younger step brother that has been downright uncompetitive over the years is not a good look.

The series record was close to even before CVD arrived. He took control and never looked back.  DGD!

I think Key is going to make them relevant again and Kriby had better take them seriously (I'm sure he will). I've said for a while that I wanted tech to be more than a doormat, beating a joke of a team doesn't make for much of a rivalry. The impending collapse of the ACC is going to be interesting to watch and see how it affects tech.

I'd like to beat them 9 in a row and then drop them as an every year opponent and replace them with a rotation of Ga. Southern, Ga. State and tech.
