Georgia men's golf alum Davis Thompson won the John Deere Classic with a tournament record-breaking 28-under, 256, winning his first PGA TOUR event in his 63rd career start at the TPC Deere Run on Sunday.
Thompson shot 63-67-62-64 to win the event by four strokes. He played collegiately at the University of Georgia for four seasons between 2017 and 2021, where he earned All-America First Team laurels his final two years, and was the 2021 Southeastern Conference Player of the Year. He won four individual titles at Georgia, including the NCAA Regionals in 2019 and 2021. He is the 17th former Bulldog to win a PGA TOUR event and the 12th under Georgia head coach Chris Haack.
