One of yall on the old site recommended "in the red clay". All i can say is wow and thanks!
After a couple of TRIPS to and from Florida I have listened to all 13 episodes and it was absolutely captivating. Very well done. Billy Sunday Birt is a name i wont soon forget thats for dang sure.
If you are a native Georgian and like history its a must listen. Wrens, Evens, Winder, Augusta all part of the story and it involves one of the nations most prolific murderers.
I understand that there is a second 'season' of the podcast. Look forward to listening to that one down the road as well.

Yes sir! Most excellent! I stopped by the bar/distillery one time when I was riding through Winder. Started to stop and go in but was by myself and thought better of it. Bert's boy's car was outside but nothing else was there. Now, it is closed. If I were one of the big wigs in Winder, I'd have that place open and promoted to draw folks to Winder. Believe the city fathers had it shut down.

That baptism story could have been a movie all by itself.
I think the follow up is called Durham and it will be queued up for the next TRIP to the land of the mullet.
The feller that did that podcast did a r eal good job and he has a bunch of others too.
Will be checking those out! He has a youtube page here:

It’s fantastic!! Very close to home for me…
I know Stoney and some of the other folks involved…especially in part 2.
When I was a kid Billy Sunday Birt was the boogie man. He was the thing that went bump in the night. My parents talked about him often and not in a good way.
Wild tales and most are true and worse than reported.

My dad was somewhat of a pool shark in the late 60’s.. a very good player who played with Billy at the Waynesboro Pool hall when my dad would skip school at Harlem. Not a man to mess with us all he’’d say. Best time of the year waiting on the Dawgs reports and build up to the first game.

Great podcast and very accurate. A couple of relatives of mine from that era ran with Birt, Parks, AD Allen etc. One served time in the DA car bombing in Jackson. County.

That Sean Kipe dude has a couple of other podcasts about Georgia crimes that are pretty good. I've listened to In the Land of Lies. It was good. Doesn't resolve as well, but an good story. He's got a newer one called Drowning Creek about that kid that went missing from the Wild Bill's in Duluth back in 2007. My wife has been listening to it and she said it was good. I haven't gotten to it yet.

I recommended it to everyone I met. They did one hell of a job and it was chilling at times just because it was that mans son narrating the events. Just some
ice cold shit.
