High of 99 here today, heat index of 110, it is insane that....

There are HS scrimmage games scheduled for this afternoon.  If they kick off at 7:00 it will still be 95 degrees and heat index over 100.

GHSA is insane. Didn’t start practice when I played until August, first game around end of the month.

Yeah, Rockmart and I were discussing this a couple days ago.  BITD, when I was in HS, the first game of the season was always the first Friday in September.  Practice started the first week of August.  I went by ARC Wednesday afternoon to meet a client whose son is playing and he helps out some (he's an active booster at ARC since he has twin sons and a daughter there).  I watched a little of the practice.  The coaches were letting them have water breaks every 15 minutes.

The real games start August 16th.  The sun will be shining until halftime.  It will be hard to sit in the stands much less play.

Yep. Rockmart hosts Bremen this evening, kickoff at 8:00 pm. Looking at my phone weather app, temps are expected to be a bit cooler by kickoff, as it looks like rain is possible starting around 4:00 pm. 8:00 pm temperature is slated to be 83.

MUCH cooler there than here.  That is what our weather tomorrow is supposed to be like.  IMO; local schools should move scrimmages to tomorrow.

I might go by right after work.  Will probably stay until around 6:30 or so if I do.

I've been an Oliviano's regular lately for Friday happy hour.  Red head bartender gal there is a cutie pie.

One thought that crosses my mind... Even back in the way-back-old-days... high school football teams were practicing 2-3 weeks before the season opener. They practiced hard and VERY physical back on those days. We used to do a thing called "Bull In The Ring". Think of something along the lines of Oklahoma Drills. I guess we've been having football practice in the worst of August probably going back to when it all started.

We ARE starting the season earlier, today, than we did 20-30 years ago. I think we're probably right about 2 weeks earlier than what we've always known as our traditional schedule that began right around the first of September.

With the rain that we had the last few days and now this heat and sunshine, my grass is growing crazy. I swear I can see it growing as I look out the window!!

That's been my grass, too. The back yard got too high, but it was because it rained day after day after day after day, etc., etc. It was raining twice a day at times.
