The University of Georgia men's tennis team has signed transfer Arda Azkara, head coach Jamie Hunt announced on Wednesday. Azkara, from Izmir, Turkey, will join the Bulldogs after spending the last three years at the University of New Mexico. During his time with the Lobos, Azkara compiled 50 wins in singles play. He was named the Mountain West Co-Freshman of the Year in 2022. After his sophomore and junior seasons, Azkara became the first Mountain West player to earn back-to-back Player of the Year honors.
University of Georgia head softball coach Tony Baldwin has announced the hiring of Karly Heath as the program's next Player Development Coordinator. Heath comes to Georgia following a stint as the graduate assistant at Louisiana on Gerry Glasco's staff last season. Heath was an All-American pitcher and outfielder at Louisiana from 2021-2023. She was a standout player in the SEC and the Sun Belt Conference, including being named Conference Player of the Year in 2023. She was an outstanding pitcher and hitter throughout her college career. Her experience on both sides of the ball will be valuable in helping us develop our team.
The Southeastern Conference has announced Georgia's 16-game league schedule for the upcoming 2024-25 campaign. The slate, which begins on Jan. 2, is broken up into eight home and eight away games, with the Lady Bulldogs playing each of the other 15 teams at least once. Based on this year's rotation, Kentucky is the only team Georgia will play twice.
