Remember just a short couple/few years ago that there was such strong emphasis...

... on players not having the knee pads covering their knees? I'll be honest... I can't remember the specifics about the college game. I do remember in high school football they were sending players off the field if their knee pads rose up and left their knees uncovered. It got outright ridiculous at times.

Now, players are wearing what amounts to long shorts... nothing whatsoever even on the knee at all. I guess the reasoning behind the previous rule and its enforcement must not have been so important after all.
John 14:6

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me."

1 Timothy 2:5-6

For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the witness for this proper time.

Acts 4:12

And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”

The knee pad may stop scratches and a few rug burns, but does nothing to protect the knee from ligament injuries.

Canecur. They made it a big issue just a short few years ago. In the very early part of the high school season players were getting sent off the field left and right because their knee pad went above their knee.

Fewer pads look better. Players don't want to look like the Michelin Man these days.

I agree with that. I have no problem even with the pants that don't even go to the knee. I think there was a wild overreaction to the knee pad thing a short few years ago. The fact that now a player doesn't even have to wear anything whatsoever on their knees just proves that to be the case.

I forgot about that. I seem to remember it being a penalty if you didn't have your mouthpiece in your mouth when the ball was snapped, "back when".

I got that penalty when playing high school ball back in the early 70s.  Got my butt jerked from the game for the series by coach and 20 wind sprints at the next practice for committing a stupid penalty.
