The Georgia soccer team (2-2-2). enjoyed a 2-0 victory over Illinois (3-2-1) before 800 spectators at the Turner Soccer Complex Thursday evening. Freshman forward Cayla Jackson made her collegiate debut while also notching her first career goal. Sophomore forward Jocelyn Chinea got the assist. Graduate forward Margie Detrizio netted her fourth goal of the season and 30th of her Bulldog career. Junior goalkeeper Jordan Brown recorded her 15th career solo shutout, fielding four saves on the night to reach another milestone of 150 career saves. The Bulldogs' next match will be at home when they face Samford on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 5:30 p.m. ET.
Georgia volleyball is back on the road this weekend, traveling west to Boulder, Colorado for the Buffs Classic. The Bulldogs will play Colorado, Washington, and Fresno State at the CU Events Center. Following week one of the 2024 season, Georgia is still receiving votes in the latest AVCA/Taraflex Coaches' Poll. The Bulldogs began the season ranked No. 25. It was Georgia's first top-25 ranking since opening the 1996 season at No. 24. They beat UCSB but lost to FSU. The Bulldogs will host the Classic City Clash next weekend at Stegeman Coliseum. Georgia welcomes Boston College, Jacksonville, and Utah Valley to Athens for the six-match round robin tournament.
