Tough trip to the Fort Oglethorpe Hospital this morning...
#1
to talk to younger brother's doctor.

Doug looks 90 years old at age 63. He cannot move his left side and cannot talk, just mumbles after multiple strokes.

He did not know who I was.

Doctor was wanting me to sign a DNR for Doug if he Codes, but didn't know he had a son, my nephew, that legally needs to sign that document.   I agree there should be one.

Doug has no quality of life, but his body could remain alive in this state for 3 weeks, 3 months or 3 years.

I'm sorry Roga.

My Mom died from a stroke.  Lived 4 days after the stroke hit.  Could not move, could not communicate. Could not swallow.  She had a DNR as well as a Living Will stating she was not to be kept alive by feeding tubes etc, if she showed no hope of recovering.

It was a hard few days, and I never in my life thought that I'd be praying for my own mothers death, but it was the best thing for her.

It's a hard, hard thing.

God know's what's best, put it in his hands, and relax your mind.  (Easier said than done, I know.)

Sorry to hear about that Roga. Strokes are awful things. My MIL had several strokes over about a 10 year period. None of them were debilitating until the last one which left her bed ridden. She contracted COVID in 2020 and the nursing home said she had "days, maybe weeks". She lived for two more years lying in a bed.

Seeing her made me realize there are much worse things than dying.
