Those would be called first quarter or second quarter adjustments

It's an unfair advantage for teams that can't afford to 'scout' out other teams before playing. Levels the playing field to go in there blind.

It's sort of like tackling a QB. If you land on TOP of him it's a penalty, but if all 11 guys land on top of a RB it's alright.
