I'm back awake now

List of Tennessee 10 win seasons

Neyland (5 of 21 seasons)

1938 11-0
1939 10-1
1940 10-1
1950 11-1
1951 10-1

To be fair (because we didn't play so many games back in the day) Neyland also had seven 9 win seasons and only lost 1 game for 6 straight seasons (5 ties in there)

Wyatt (1 of 8)

1956 10-1

Battle (3 of 7)

1970 11-1
1971 10-2
1972 10-2

Majors (2 of 15)

1987 10-2-1
1989 11-1

Fulmer (9 of 16)

1993 10-2
1995 11-1
1996 10-2
1997 11-2
1998 13-0
2001 11-2
2003 10-3
2004 10-3
2007 10-4

Heupel (1 of 3)

2022 11-2

So Tennessee has 21 ten win seasons 4 in a row under Fulmer 3 in a row Neyland and Battle 2 in row twice Neyland and Fulmer.

------------------------------------

LSU 10 win seasons

Wingard (1 of 2)

1908 10-0

Dietzel (2 of 7)

1958 11-0
1961 10-1

McClendon (0 of 18)

Archer (1 of 4)

1987 10-1-1

DiNardo (1 of 5)

1996 10-2

Saban (2 of 5)

2001 10-3
2003 13-1

Miles (6 of 12)*

2005 11-2
2006 11-2
2007 12-2
2011 13-1
2012 10-3 *
2013 10-3 *

Orgeron (2 of 5)

2018 10-3
2019 15-0

Kelly (2 of 2)

2022 10-4
2023 10-3

So LSU only has 17 Ten Win Seasons and two of those have been vacated. Miles had a 4 game streak but two of those were vacated. Orgeron and Kelly have two 10 win season streaks.

--------------------------------------------

South Carolina 10 win seasons

Morrison (1 of 6)

1984 10-2

Spurrier (3 of 11)

2011 11-2
2012 11-2
2013 11-2

So....4 all time. 3 in a row Spurrier.

---------------------------------------

Georgia Tech 10 win seasons

Alexander (1 of 23)

1928 10-0

Dodd (4 of 19)

1947 10-1
1951 11-0-1
1952 12-0
1956 10-1

Ross (1 of 5)

1990 11-0-1

O"Leary (1 of 8)

1998 10-2

Johnson (2 of 11)

2009 11-3
2014 11-3

So only 9 overall and two in row only once by Dodd.

One site as of May 2023

Ten Win Team leaders SEC Bold

3) Michigan 31 11
4) Ohio State 30 20
5) USC 28 13
6) Nebraska 27 12
7) Georgia 26 13
8) FSU 25 14
8) Penn State 25 19
10) Texas 24 10
11) Notre Dame 21 9
11) Tennessee 21 9
13) BYU 18 12
14) LSU 17 9
15) Florida 16 8
16) Miami 15 11
17) Auburn 14 6
17) Washington 14 5
19) Arkansas 13 2
19) Arizona St 13 5
20) Texas A&M 12 4

Well I counted and recounted for Georgia and it was 28 which would put us ahead of Nebraska and maybe tied USC just behind Ohio State.

Oh Well #6 another point of Bulldog Pride. Cool

Damn, we got more ten win seasons than Penn State Texas Nebraska and Notre Dame? WOOOOO!

Distant 3rd in SEC now, so stay humble.

IMO; 10 win seasons, while still nice, have lost some of the luster they had before the 12 games schedule came about. BITD, winning 10 games was tough to do when you only had 10 or 11 regular season games and a bowl game to do it in. Schedules over the last 20 or so years are designed to protect coach's jobs by starting the season with 4 or 5 gimme wins for most "good" teams. A coach only has to win a few games against legit competition to be safe in his job. Going 8-4 and getting a trip to a mediocre bowl looks pretty good on paper and it is hard to fire a coach who wins 8 games a year, even if 4 of the wins are against cupcakes.
