The University of Georgia volleyball team defeated the Ole Miss Rebels in four sets (25-20, 25-23, 22-25, 25-20) on Sunday at Stegeman Coliseum to finish a 2-0 weekend in Athens. Sophie Fischer recorded her 1,000th kill as a Georgia Bulldog in the first set. She becomes the 20th member of Georgia's 1,000-Kill Club. She led the Dogs offense with 18 kills in the match while adding four blocks on defense. Bianna Muoneke narrowly missed a double-double, finishing with 11 kills and eight digs in the contest. She led Georgia with three of the team's seven aces in the match. The Bulldogs host Oklahoma in Georgia and OU's first conference meeting on Friday at Stegeman Coliseum.
Bolstered by another terrific performance from junior goalkeeper Jordan Brown, the University of Georgia soccer team (6-4-5, 2-2-3 SEC) played Florida (4-4-6, 1-3-2 SEC) to a 0-0 draw Sunday evening before 1,054 spectators at Donald R. Dizney Stadium. Brown earned her seventh shutout of the season with six saves, increasing her season total to 89. The Las Vegas native preserved the draw with an incredible diving save with six minutes to play. With the tie, Georgia increased its unbeaten streak against Florida to seven, dating back to the 2019 season. Georgia returns home to face Tennessee in a critical SEC showdown on Friday, Oct. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Turner Soccer Complex.
