How do ya'll feel about Lanning and the intentional 12 man penalty to run off time at the end of the game ?    Seems way unsportsmanlike to me.

I think Lanning was stupid to admit he did it on purpose. That said, I'm glad it worked and cost tOSU the game.

I put things like that in the same category as:

Flopping/fake injuries just to stop the opposing team from running the ball down your throat, to try to change momentum, to try to give your team a much-needed timeout, especially at a time when you may not even have any timeouts left. Coaches are responsible for this, and they should be disciplined.

Intentionally grabbing a ball carrier's face mask with the intent of ripping off their helmet to prevent them from breaking loose and scoring. This isn't as common an issue, but I saw it happen multiple times in a state championship game. Buncha nonsense and some coach should be heavily disciplined.

Not quite as serious is when someone purposely interferes with a receiver because if they don't they're going to catch a pass and score a touchdown.

What stands out more to me about this whole thing with the Oregon-tOSU game is that the NCAA implemented a rule change in less than a week after it happened, and during mid-season. Have they ever done something like that in the past? If so, I've never heard of it.

I don't think it was unethical. It was a smart play. Just because he was the first to do it doesn't make it wrong.

Pretending to be injured to stop momentum, while not technically illegal, is unethical.

I just heard yesterday that Lanning admitted it was intentional. That is crazy about changing the rule so quickly.

In my opinion, Lanning shouldn’t have admitted to doing it however it was a legal move. tOSU still had time to run a short pass play and kick the FG. Poor play calling and poor clock management by Wolfman Jack cost them the game.
