PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas — Georgia's Chantal El Chaib captured medalist honors at the White Sands Invitational on Sunday at The Ocean Golf Club after wrapping up the tournament at 2-under 141. The Bulldogs finished sixth in the team field in their final event of the fall campaign. El Chaib tied Purdue's Momo Sugiyama atop the individual leaderboard in the tourney that was shortened to 36 holes after Friday's first round was canceled due to rain. She captured the 90th individual title in Georgia Golf history, becoming the 40th different UGA golfer to earn medalist honors. The Bulldogs now will enjoy a just over a three-month break from competition before the 2025 calendar portion of their schedule. Georgia will return to action with the Lady Bulldog Invitational, a one-day, individual event on Saturday, Jan. 25 at the UGA Golf Course. The Bulldogs' next team event will be the Collegiate Invitational at Guadalajara Country Club on Jan. 31-Feb. 1.
ATLANTA —Aysegul Mert and Guillermina Grant both advanced to the semifinal rounds at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex on Sunday. The tandem of Aysegul Mert and Guillermina Grant advanced to the doubles semifinal, earning two wins in the doubles bracket by first knocking off Georgia Tech's Kylie Bilchev and Meera Jesudason 8-2 in the round of 16, before defeating FSU's #34 Maria Juliana Parra Romero and Amelia Bissett 8-0 in the quarterfinal. In singles, #94 Mert made quick work of UCF's #35 Sophia Biolay in the quarterfinal, winning 6-2, 6-1 in straight sets. Mert and Grant will resume action in the ITA Southeast Regional Championships semifinals on Monday, Oct. 21 with action set to begin at 10 a.m. ET.

Further, senior Miguel Perez Peña was crowned the co-champion of the singles draw and qualified for the NCAA Singles Championships in November. The Bulldogs are back in action at the ITA Sectionals hosted by Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla. from Nov. 7-10. More, select Bulldogs will compete in the ITA Conference Masters tournament in Rome, Ga. from Nov. 7-10.
AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Georgia volleyball team took the opening set at No. 7 Texas on Sunday, but the Longhorns came back to win the match in four sets (25-23, 19-25, 20-25, 18-25). Georgia returns to Stegeman to open a three-match homestand beginning Sunday, Oct. 27 when the LSU Tigers come to Athens. First serve against LSU is set for 2 p.m. The first 500 fans will take home a Georgia Hawaiian shirt.
