but daaaaaaaaaaaaamn was it expensive. Cost of the unit was nothing compared to the install. Drilling holes in my brick, junction boxes, 4 connections to I don't know what. I literally could not believe what all that was involved and how long it took and did I mention how much it cost.
Might have gone with two of the Gaol Zero generators if I had known what I was getting into. I have a small one I use for camping and it works flawlessly, battery always stays above 80 when plugged into a solar panel.

i almost want power to be lost lol so I can test it out. Which they did (cut me power) but not a real scenario. This thing would be awesome for folks on cpap machines, etc

If I can't live without power I would just as soon be done. Got enough food, water and lead for years. Come get some.

Generac is nice until the 500 gallon underground propane tank runs empty and you can’t get another delivery.
IOW, great for short term outage of a week or so. Not so good for a long term emergency. Solar would be better for long term, if you have enough battery storage.

I have a 16KW duel fuel (gas and propane) generator that powers everything I need, including AC. I installed a soft start kit on my AC and it works great. Of course, I lock out the main breaker and just turn on the breakers I need power to. I can go about 2 weeks with it if needed.

In a really bad event, does natural gas keep flowing? I'm wondering about a power outage at a distribution facility or maybe a flood.
I've thought about getting a whole house generator. Also considering solar. Have only lost power 3 times for more than a minute in the past 10 years, so I haven't really taken it seriously yet. My natural gas line is on the opposite end of my house from my power meter, so they'd likely have to go through the house to plumb it too.

I have a 5000 watt portable gasoline powered generator. I use a suicide cord plugged in to an outlet in my carport and back feed one side of my panel. I can run a couple refrigerators, half the lights in the house, the cook top on my gas range (electric igniters), a window AC in an upstairs bedroom or a couple small space heaters if the power goes out in winter. I have the old school tank type gas water heater so I have hot water if the power is out. A tank of fuel lasts about 14 hours so I run the generator for 4 or 5 hours and then shut it off for 6 or so hours so a tank will last at least a full day, usually a little longer. I went 12 days without power and it really wasn't unbearable.
The challenge with this storm was getting gas for the first few days. It made me see the benefit of having the tri fuel generator that would run on natural gas, propane or gasoline.

I got it for my 81 year old Dad who needs a Cpap machine and loves to camp, still.
As for the pussy, that's you for hiding your N campus tailgate location when I asked for it. I have your real name. Only a matter of time before my fist meets your face. I don't care who is around, I don't care if you sue me for assault. I don't care if you tattle to the mods. I am coming for you, that much is certain.
