The obvious...
#1
The OL has been average or less than average all season long. UGA is #15 in offense rushing yards in the SEC. TE play has taken a nose dive. Yes, I know Superman is gone but, still...WR's too. Too many dropped passes.
DL?
LB's?
DB's? This position has been disappointing. Some of this can be due to a lack of pressure on the other team's QB bit still...
And finally...coaching??? If Kirby stands pat, this is not going to bode well down the road.

Just my opinion.

I hope you're right about getting to the playoff Toasty but I have serious doubts.  The UT D is good this season and our O is bad.  Our D can't bail us out indefinitely in games if the O can't score any points.  Tech is fundamentally sound and could give us all we want.

The dropped passes are the most maddening thing to me....we lead the nation in dropped passes..how does that happen?

Two night games for the biggest two left and both at home.  No excuses.

Nico broke his collarbone and UT is trying to hide it for now.  Fromm my TOS

Quote:I'm hearing that there is no chance he plays this week. Either a broken collarbone or a serious shoulder injury. (Presumably getting checked out today or tomorrow.)

Don't hold me to that but I got it from more than one Vols fan. Not gonna call them "insiders" but they're basically trustworthy types. Season ticket holders, low-level boosters, guys I know personally.

Could win out. Could lose 2 more. Never know which of our two faced team will show up.

The team that played Texas will win out regular season and a couple of playoff games.
The team that played UK, 1st half Bama or Ole Miss loses 2 regular season games and their Bowl game.

If he doesn't play we have a good chance of winning unless their backup looks like Ole Miss backup did against us.  Our dbs are back to WillieMart levels of play.  They aren't in the same zip code as the receivers they are supposed to be covering.

Dart getting hurt on that first series was probably the worst thing that could have happened to us.  The backup was a baseball player and had a quicker release, so the Dline had to adjust their timing and their hands, but they didn't figure that out until he'd already driven down the field, apparently.  Then when Dart came back in, they didn't know what to do, especially since Ole Miss went up-tempo immediately.  And he ended the game as their leading rusher on a bum ankle.

Terrible lack of preparation.  Dawgs should have been able to recover, but got whooped at the LOS.  As shitty as we looked Saturday, UT could put a high school QB in and beat us, if we don't figure out what is wrong on both sides of the ball this week.

The hedges are in danger from both UT and Tech, for sure.

I'm not sure I believe that story.  I saw a clip of him walking out of the locker room after the game with his parents (which in and of itself is weird), but he wasn't wearing a sling.  He was in street clothes and had a towel over his head.  Heupel said leaving him out was precautionary and they expect him to be available Saturday.

I hope he does get this team to the playoffs but, based on what I've seen this season, it's going to be very hard. Guess we'll see soon enough.

I certainly hope our game plan doesn't involve preparing for a backup in HIGH expectation that Nico is out.
Let's prepare to end the Vols season in flames.

It's time to shed some dead weight on the coaching staff. Searles replacement should be priority 1. We're starting to see what a panic hire can do, and he was a panic hire after being turned down by at least two candidates. Bobo needs to ready to go if he's not on board with a new OL coach.

Time to look deep into the mirror on some players and coaches.

Everybody associated with the team is now a paid employee, players, coaches and staff.  If they don't perform to expectations they should be let go or have their pay cut drastically until their performance improves to expectation.

Bobo and  Searles were bad hires from day one.  Kirby threw his friend a bone out of sympathy when he brought Bobo in as an analyst or whatever he was before, total pity hire.  His promotion to OC was another pity move by Kirby for his friend and the path of least resistance.  Everyone knew Bobo sucked when he was hired, even Kirby had to know.  Kirby had to think we had enough talent to make up for Bobo's ineptitude.  Searles was, as you say, a panic hire.

I was 100% on the Kirby train until the Bobo hire.  If he keeps Bobo after this season I'll know we have Richt 2.0.
