Streaks and Clean Old Fashioned Hate........
#1
Now we lost that first game against Tech in 1893. we won the next four. Tech had a 5 game streak from 1904 to 1909. We had another 4 game streak 1910 to 1913 but we didn't win again until 13 years later because of World War I and the post war parade incident several seasons were lost. We only had 2 wins against Tech in the 1920's. There were 5 wins and 3 ties in the 1930's. We won 6 to 4 in the 1940's (6 to 2 by Georgia's count).

Then there was the drought. My dad talked about it 8 YEARS 8 Loooong Years. We retired a Jersey number for breaking that drought.

''You can rave about your Sinkwich
''And Trippi's praises sing,
''While talk about the 'Bowl Days'
''Still makes the welkin ring.

... ''But of all the wondrous visions
''Ever seen by eyes of mine,
''I'll take old number forty
''Crashing through that Jacket line.

... ''Rise up you loyal Georgians
''From Tybee Light to Rabun Gap,
''Here's to the Macon Mauler,
''The mighty Theron Sapp!''

Georgia won the the last 4 years of Wally Butts. But Butts finished 10 and 11 against Tech with that 8 game losing streak and the cheating WWII years. Three more years of sucking until Vince Dooley came along. Hell Georgia was 26 - 27 - 5 counting the cheating WWII years when CFHOFCVD got here. We had a losing record to Vanderbilt too, but that is another post. We played our high profile games at Grant Field before CFHOFCVD. It must have been embarrassing for pop and his Bulldog buddy working at the Corp of Engineers.

But Dooley went 19-6. (24-1 Vandy). Tech left the SEC, and Tech has never won more than 2 in a row since I was 4 years old in 1964. There was the three game streak that chased off Jim Donnan but even that included the cheating Jasper Sanks non fumble game. Even Ray Goff went 5 and 2 against Tech.

Now there was the six game Georgia win streak Georgia had from the Wonder Dawgs of 78 to the 84 Dewberry Hedge carnage. There was the cheating 13 man Goal Line Stand of 1985 and Dooley won his last three, unlike Bobby Dodd who lost his last three. Goff suffered two losses and Tech winning a Cheating Coaches poll MNC. But he won his last 5 against Tech and Donnan took it 2 games further to seven before the cheating back to back fumble not a fumble games no need to rehash. Former CFHOFCMR won seven in a row before 2008.

Jonathan Dwyer played middle school football and track with my son at Lassiter. He won the Cobb County 100 meter dash 8th grade. Then he had to go to new Kell High School and I joked with him about one day playing between the hedges for Georgia but he only played one time against us. The only win in 13 years for Georgia Tech against former CFHOFCMR who pulled off another 5 game streak before the cheating Pooch kick game. Kirby lost the first season but we got six straight now. Would be seven but they backed out with Vandy on the Covid season. Kirby is changing the Georgia Media Guide. This will be our third 7 game streak since the days of Kirby the player. Georgia is 30 games up now 71-41-5.

Going for 31 straight Sanford Stadium Wins. The longest SEC home winning streak. It's my Birthday. We are going to the inaugural revised SECCG. Here's to streaks and changing the Media Guide.

Great post TRD!! I hate tech with a white hot passion. Zolo nailed it last week about how Augusta had quite a few tech fans bitd among the Boys Catholic High crowd and they were insufferable back in the 60s and 70s when the rivalry was still fairly close and Dooley hadn't started to really dominate them yet.

Happy Birthday!!! Hope you have many more and see many more Dawg wins.
